- There are many sectors (rotary heart furnaces, cupola furnaces, non-ferrous foundries, etc) that requiere highly specialised products with a high chromium oxide (Cr2O3) content to protect refrqactory materials from the acid environments involved in the process.
Below is a photo of the use od wedges with a high chromium content in a rotary hearth used to burn hazardous materials.
This type of materials is used to increase the chemical resistance in this zone, thus extending the useful life of the refractory lining.
These materials are also used in non-ferrous or cupola furnaces, where tey are observerd to have considerable durability.
