TEIDE REFRACTORY SOLUTIONS. MOR TESTING FOR THE CHARACTERISATION OF CERAMIC PRODUCTS.

The technical staff and simulation department of TEIDE REFRACTORY SOLUTIONS are committed to R&D&I, to bring its customers the best refractory solutions for their particular needs.

What is the mechanical resistance of a specific product?

Ceramic materials have a low tensile strength and a high compressive strength. For this reason, it is important to determine the tensile strength in order to verify the mechanical strength.

How does the Modulus of Rupture (MOR) test function?

The Methods of test for dense shaped refractory products. Part 6. Determination of modulus of rupture (MOR) at ambient temperature, based on UNE-EN-993-6, is appropriate for the determination of tensile strength.

The MOR test applies a load that increases over time. A simple bending stress state is provoked in the part that generates compressive stress in the upper fibres and tensile stress on the lower fibres. When the tensile stress in the lower fibres exceeds the tensile rupture limit, the part breaks:
